New webmaster

Emilie Dallyn is now the new webmaster for the Filkins website. Please be patient while I get to know my way around the site. All updates for the site should still be sent to webmaster@filkins.org.uk. Thank you to Paul Thompson who has looked after the site for the last few years and good luck with his move to Newbury. Sadly his move will also mean the end of the 'In the Sky' page as Paul will no longer be here to keep it up to date.

Loose Dogs on the Road

Over the last week we have been visited by two large pale coloured dogs (please excuse my ignorance but I am unsure which breed!). They have been running around our garden and we have also seen them running about on the main round outside our house. They have no collars so we are unable to identify the owners. We are concerned that they may be injured or cause an accident (cars have been beeping at them on the road). Does anyone know who they belong to? If so could we have a telephone number to call if they come wandering again.

Very many thanks,

Jo Ashby

Filkins Museum's Buildings Survey
Added: 20th July, 2009

The Museum Trustees have been thinking for some time that a survey of the buildings in our villages; Broughton Poggs and Filkins, is very much needed to record the houses and their occupants. We have applied for a West Oxfordshire Heritage Grant to purchase a digital camera and are awaiting notification of our success.
Helen Blackett has agreed to embark on the photography and we hope to photo the house and the occupants during the summer. We will be contacting each household for
permission to do so but if you have strong objections please do not hesitate to let me know. The village is changing quite quickly and we want to capture these changes.

If it is not too onerous a repeat in, say, ten years would be good for comparison. We will
shortly be delivering a questionnaire and details and would appreciate your cooperation
in carrying this survey out.
