Green Waste Scheme

Sign up today for our new Green Waste Scheme for the collection and composting of garden waste!

The scheme will be available to 4000 households, who will receive a fortnightly green waste collection from outside of their property from April 2006 to March 2007. A 240 litre capacity green-lidded wheelie bin will be supplied for the storage of your garden waste, which will be collected fortnightly on a designated weekday for each area.

This year-long scheme costs just £30, including hire of the bin for the duration of the scheme. The waste will be turned into compost, not only saving you the trouble of taking it to the tip or burning it, but also helping to divert green waste from landfill sites.

The opportunity to participate in our Green Waste Scheme is being offered to all residents of West Oxfordshire. However, places on this scheme are limited and collection rounds will be determined according to demand, so it is vital that you register your interest early.
To register your interest, please complete our on-line form. Alternatively, contact the Green Waste Scheme or call
01993 86 11 12. We will then send you an application pack. This pack will contain details of the scheme and a form for you to complete to register as a participant of the scheme.

Garden waste can account for a substantial percentage of the contents of our refuse bins in Oxfordshire that goes into landfill sites each year. As well as using valuable land and financial resources, green waste also breaks down to form leachate, a toxic liquid that can pollute our water and soil, and methane, a greenhouse gas that can contribute to global warming.
